The First Cast...

Friday was Zeke's first appointment at Sinai. We got there about 11:!5, and he amused the folks in the waiting room, with his running around ! When we got called back into the exam room, the first person we met was the coordinator of the club foot clinic. She is a physical therapist who looked at his foot. There were several others with her, but I don't remember all their jobs. Except for one guy, who took pictures of Zeke, and video of him walking. Eventually we met Dr. H, who also looked at his foot and leg and ordered some x-rays. He said Zeke will spend the next 6 weeks or so in casts. Because he is over 2 and has had no treatment this far, he expects he will need some surgery. The hope is the casts will turn his foot into a more normal position so that surgery can be minimized. During the x-rays, Zeke screamed his head off! He really doesn't like those things! Then we got to calm back down, and wait for the casting... Well, that was more screaming! Bless his heart! He did not like that at all. And he still didn't like it when they were done! ANd he still doesn't like it! But he will make it! Sometimes, we just have to grit our teeth, hang in there, and persevere, and see what God's gonna do!

These are before pictures, showing Zeke's "unrepaired" clubfoot.

This is while the doctor was casting his foot. Although a picture's worth a thousand words, you really can't tell from this one how miserable this boy was!

Zeke, thinking, "Maybe if I wear this disguise in two weeks, they won't know who I am. And then, they won't take me to those doctor people..."
