Today was cast #10. If things go as planned, it seems that Zeke will get two more casts, followed by a tenotomy, followed by a third cast which he'll wear for several weeks as the tendon heals. When this procedure is done on young babies, they are given a skin numbing cream, and this is done in the office. Since Zeke is older, (and much rowdier!) he will need to have general anesthesia in the OR. In two weeks, we'll have more x-rays, and that is when the decision will be made if he's ready for the tenotomy or not. Today the doctor made a comment which leads me to believe he's finally starting to believe that the Ponseti method can be successfully used on a two year old with no prior treatment. I'll include a few pictures today. But, I didn't think his foot looked all that great. A big step today- literally...Zeke tried to push the stroller and actually took a few small steps without his cast. He has not put any weight on that leg since the casting began(when out of the cast, that is). We were again reminded that he will need to be retrained in how to walk properly with the bottom of his foot on the ground.

Look how much thinner this week's cast is than last week's! His pants fit again!

Oh, almost forgot...We weighed Zeke after taking his cast off, and he weighs 27.4 pounds. So he's gained about two pounds since we brought him home.
